Protein Puppy Chow!!!
I can’t express how excited I am to share this recipe with you! Health-ified recipes like these totally save my diet and help me stay on track with my healthy eating plan. This recipe packs protein, healthy fats, and deliciousness of course!
Here’s how it compares to a standard puppy chow recipe:
120 less calories per serving, 10 grams less sugar, & 10 grams more protein
Lets do this!
-5 cups (200 grams) chex mix cereal (gluten-free available)
-4 baking squares (30 grams) of semi sweet chocolate (you can substitute chocolate chips)
-6 tablespoons (102 grams) nuts n’ more brand toffee crunch peanut butter (you can sub in regular nut butter, or normal peanut butter, this kind has added protein)
-1.5 scoops (45 grams) vanilla whey protein powder (I used Optimum Nutrition brand)
-1 tablespoon (14 grams) coconut oil
What to do:
In a microwave safe bowl combine peanut butter, coconut oil, and chocolate. Heat for 30 seconds. Stir. Heat for another 30 seconds or until fully melted (be careful not to burn!). In the meantime, place chex mix cereal in a large bowl.
Slowly pour melted pb, chocolate, and coconut oil over chex mix and mix well until fully coated (careful not to mix too hard to keep chex mix intact).
Sprinkle protein powder over the now coated chex mix. Stir well to fully coat! And boom. Puppy chow complete!
